Set off aboard our brand-new vessel, Douglas Mawson which offers dedicated solo accommodations with NO single supplement on each journey and enjoy reduced single supplement on our revolutionary vessels Greg Mortimer and the Sylvia Earle for small ship discovery and expedition cruises.

Request a private cabin

If you would rather have a cabin all to yourself, you can pay a 50% surcharge on Greg Mortimer and Sylvia Earle ships or enjoy NO single supplements on the dedicated solo accommodations on the Douglas Mawson ship. This way, you can explore endlessly at your own pace. This option can be combined with other offers and discounts.

Save the solo supplement and we’ll pair you with a like-minded traveler based on gender and your selected cabin category. If we’re unable to find you someone to share with, the solo supplement is waived. This option can be combined with other offers and discounts.

Things we do onboard to make voyages inclusive for Solo Travelers

Larger Dining Tables

Enjoy communal dining with larger tables in our main dining room, perfect for solo travelers to connect with others and make new friends. Hosted by our knowledgeable team members, these tables offer a chance to share stories and enjoy complimentary wine and beer with your fellow adventurers.

Pre-dinner Cocktails

We encourage guests to enjoy pre dinner cocktails in the bar or in one of the viewing lounges. After a tiring day this is always a good time to engage in a debrief and reflect on the day.

Evening Activities

Depending on the nature of the voyage and the physical exertion we arrange some evening activities or encourage people to sit around the bar and “make new friends” with E team members on hand to answer questions or simply have a chat.

Inclusiveness

We don’t offer any guest any priority and ensure everyone is included in activities and fully enjoys the experience. Onboard we are informal and other than issues relating to safety our E team and hotel personnel are always able to assist and engage. We see it as our mission to make every passenger feel special and maximize their enjoyment in what we believe will be a life changing experience.

No Room Service!

Although room service is offered by many operators, we believe that to truly enjoy the experience you need to be wandering the ship looking at the scenery and wildlife and meeting other people. For the early risers, there are beverages and pastries out from 6:00 am and you will usually find guests to engage with in the best viewing areas on the ship.

Larger Team

We run larger teams with usually about one team member to each seven passengers. Larger teams mean more interaction with guests and more time to focus on ensuring guests get the attention they need. In some cases, this may include an informal “history lesson” or “rounding up a group” for a small walk ensuring that everyone is involved in activities.
