After embarkation and completing mandatory safety procedures, we throw the lines and depart at approximately at 5:00 pm. Please arrange your flight to arrive no later than 2:00 PM. Explore the vessel and settle into your cabin, your home for the next eight days, before meeting the crew and fellow travelers. Â
Today, we set out to discover the beauty of Amsterdam with our comprehensive tour. Enjoy a peaceful journey that captures the essence of Amsterdam's picturesque views. We return to the ship in time for Lunch. The Afternoon and evening are at leisure. The Ship overnights in port tonight.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast onboard as the ship glides down the Rhine for a morning of Scenic Cruising! With a mid-day arrival in Enkhuizen, we set out for a true Cultural Connection as we visit the homes of local families and enjoy a cup of coffee together. This unique excursion offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the daily lives of locals, learn about their traditions. Engage in meaningful conversations with your hosts. Discover local customs, family traditions, and stories passed down through generations. You will leave with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the local culture and a sense of having made new friends. As we prepare for dinner, our ship sets sail for Rotterdam.
After Breakfast, we set out to discover the dynamic blend of modern architecture and historic charm that defines Rotterdam. Today's tour will take you to key landmarks, including the iconic Erasmus Bridge, the bustling Market Hall, and the impressive Cube Houses. Rotterdam's rich culture, innovative spirit, and scenic beauty. Continue to the Market Hall in Rotterdam, a vibrant and bustling food market housed in an iconic, horseshoe-shaped building with a massive glass facade. It offers an array of culinary delights from around the world, including fresh produce, artisanal cheeses, gourmet meats, seafood, and a variety of international street foods. Here you will have several tasting. The market's interior is adorned with a colorful, large-scale artwork, adding to the lively atmosphere. Our ship sets sail later this evening as our journey on the Rhine River continues.
Our ship arrives in the very early morning and you wake up in Antwerp! After breakfast, we set out for a captivating sightseeing tour of the metropolis of Flanders. Visit the MAS building, from the roof of which you have a breathtaking view of the Antwerp skyline and the Scheldt. Learn more about the dynamic transformation of Antwerp North, the city's new trendy district. Visit the majestic Central Station, known as the 'Cathedral of Art'. Admire the intricate design and splendor that reflect Antwerp's artistic heritage. Finally, explore the historic heart of the city leading to the Cathedral of Our Lady. Inside, admire the masterpieces of Peter Paul Rubens, which represent the Golden Age of art and intelligence in Antwerp. We return to the ship and set sail later this evening.
After breakfast, we take a delightful trip from the picturesque town of Willemstad in Brabant to the historic town of Oudenbosch. Our journey will take us through the charming countryside, ending with a visit to the magnificent Oudenbosch Basilica, a stunning replica of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. This grand basilica, built in the 19th century, features intricate designs, stunning frescoes, and a majestic dome that mirrors its Roman counterpart. Visitors are captivated by its rich history, detailed artwork, and serene ambiance. As a significant landmark in Dutch religious and cultural heritage, the Oudenbosch Basilica offers a unique and enriching experience for all who visit. We return to the ship in time for Lunch as the ship sets sail for Dordrecht.
Arriving Dordrecht in the mid-afternoon, we set out to explore Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Netherlands, is renowned for its iconic network of 19 windmills built in the 18th century. These windmills are a testament to Dutch engineering and water management techniques, designed to control flooding in the low-lying polder landscape. Visitors to Kinderdijk can explore this unique area, learning about the history and technology behind the windmills while enjoying the scenic beauty of the surrounding waterways and meadows. The site stands as a symbol of the Netherlands' enduring battle against water and its innovative solutions to sustain habitable land. We return to the ship in time for dinner as the ship sets sail on the mighty Rhine River.
After breakfast, we will drive about 45 min. to the Art Museum, which opened in 1938 and is named after Helene Kröller-Müller (1869 - 1939), who had a collection of nearly 11,500 art objects. The famous art collection, mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries, includes the world's second largest collection of Van Gogh paintings, as well as a sculpture garden, which has grown to be one of the largest in Europe. The museum is located in the center of the Hoge Veluwe National Park, which encompasses 5,500 hectares of forest, heathland, grassy plains and sand dunes; deer, mouflons and wild boar feel at home here. You can explore the park individually (approx. 1 hour free time). Afterwards, we return to the ship in time for a mid-day departure for a final afternoon and evening of scenic cruising as the ship makes its way back to Dusseldorf.
After one final breakfast onboard, bid Auf Wiedersehen to the crew of the Viva One as we disembark the ship and transfer to the airport with wonderful memories of our Rhine River adventure!
