Welcome to La Roche-Guyon, one of France’s most charming and picturesque villages, nestled between the winding Seine River and the forested cliffs of the Vexin Natural Park. Meander through cobbled streets where ivy-draped cottages and quaint artisan shops create an atmosphere of timeless beauty. The aroma of freshly baked bread from the local boulangerie mingles with the gentle chime of church bells, evoking the peaceful rhythm of village life.
Return to your ship just in time for lunch, as the cruise resumes its journey through the scenic Seine Valley. Relax and enjoy an afternoon of tranquil river views. Later this evening, your ship will arrive in Rouen, where you'll dock and overnight in port.
Awake in Rouen, the vibrant capital of Normandy and one of Europe’s most breathtaking medieval cities. After breakfast, we set off to uncover the rich history and timeless beauty of this remarkable destination, a city that has witnessed centuries of pivotal events.
Our tour’s highlight is the magnificent Rouen Cathedral, an awe-inspiring example of Gothic architecture. Immortalized by Claude Monet in a series of 28 Impressionist masterpieces, the cathedral’s façade captures the magic of changing light and atmosphere. Once the tallest building in the world, thanks to its 19th-century tower, it also holds a unique historical treasure: a tomb believed to contain the heart of Richard the Lionheart.
As we stroll through Rouen’s enchanting, narrow lanes, you’ll find yourself surrounded by timber-framed houses, antique shops, and stylish boutiques. The city is a haven for food lovers, with countless bistros and brasseries showcasing the best of Normandy’s world-renowned cuisine.
One of the most poignant stops is Place du Vieux-Marché, where a solemn cross marks the spot where Joan of Arc was martyred for her faith in 1431, a powerful reminder of the city’s storied past. After the tour, return to the ship for some well-earned relaxation, or choose to linger and explore Rouen at your own pace.
Later tonight, we cast off once again, gliding along the serene Seine River toward our next unforgettable destination.
After a delicious breakfast on board, we set out to discover La Havre’s captivating blend of history, innovation, and art. Known for its striking post-war architecture and UNESCO World Heritage status, Le Havre offers a fresh perspective on French coastal culture.
Your guided journey will take you to iconic landmarks like the towering St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the dynamic port district, and the renowned MuMa Museum of Modern Art, home to one of France’s largest collections of Impressionist works. At each stop, there’s time to snap photos and soak in the unique character of this resilient, forward-looking city.
Then it’s off to the jewel of the Normandy coast: the legendary seaside resort of Étretat. Famed for its dramatic chalk cliffs, immortalized by Impressionist masters like Monet and Courbet, this postcard-perfect town is a true feast for the eyes.
Your guided tour includes breathtaking views of the natural arches and the Needle cliff that juts into the sea, followed by leisure time to wander the charming streets, sip tea on the casino terrace, or explore the avant-garde Gardens of Étretat: a whimsical cliffside garden of living sculptures that blend art, nature, and imagination.
“If I wanted to show a friend the sea for the first time, I would choose Étretat to do it.”
– Alphonse Karr
It’s easy to see why Étretat has inspired generations of painters, poets, and travelers alike. Don’t miss the striking Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde chapel, perched high above the coast, watching over the sea and the town below.
Return to the ship inspired by a day where human creativity and natural beauty come together in stunning harmony. As you unwind and prepare for dinner, the ship sets sail once more, gliding along the Seine for a peaceful evening cruise toward our next enchanting destination.
As you enjoy a leisurely breakfast, your ship glides into the quaint riverside town of Les Andelys, nestled beneath the imposing ruins of Château Gaillard, one of the Seine Valley’s most dramatic and storied landmarks. Perched high on a limestone cliff, this 12th-century fortress was commissioned by Richard the Lionheart to defend the Duchy of Normandy. Though partially in ruins today, its bold silhouette still commands sweeping views of the river and the surrounding countryside.
Your morning excursion brings the fascinating tale of this medieval stronghold to life. For those who choose to make the climb, the walk to the top is moderately steep and follows uneven paths, but the reward is a spectacular panorama over the Seine that has inspired artists and poets alike. Alternatively, opt for a gentler stroll through the charming lanes of Les Andelys, where flower-draped cottages and riverside paths offer a peaceful and picturesque experience.
Later, continue your journey to Giverny, the beloved home of Claude Monet, master of Impressionism. Step into his world as you explore Monet’s house and gardens, lovingly designed by the artist himself and often referred to as his “greatest masterpiece.” In the soft daylight, wander the flower garden in full bloom, ablaze with vibrant colors arranged in painterly harmony. Then, cross the iconic green Japanese bridge and enter the water garden, where weeping willows, bamboo groves, and a reflective pond filled with floating lilies recall Monet’s celebrated Nymphéas (Water Lilies) series. This serene setting is a living canvas: tranquil, timeless, and utterly enchanting.
Following this unforgettable visit, rejoin your ship in Vernon, where your next stretch of river cruising begins. As evening falls, unwind with dinner onboard while the ship continues its peaceful voyage along the Seine, arriving late tonight in Poissy, setting the stage for tomorrow’s adventures.
Wake to a tranquil morning in the charming riverside town of Poissy. After a leisurely breakfast onboard, set out on a journey into the heart of France’s regal heritage. Just a short, scenic drive from the port lies one of the most magnificent landscapes in Europe: The world-famous Gardens of Versailles.
Designed in the 17th century by André Le Nôtre for King Louis XIV, these gardens are a living masterpiece of classical French design, spanning nearly 2,000 acres of meticulously arranged beauty. Stroll at your own pace along grand promenades, past ornate parterres, glistening fountains, and reflecting pools, all artfully composed to reflect the power, elegance, and vision of the Sun King. Highlights include the intricate Parterre d’Eau and the sculptural splendor of the Latona and Apollo fountains, mythological symbols brought to life in stone and water. This four-hour excursion offers a truly immersive experience in royal opulence and natural harmony.
Return to the ship just in time for a relaxing lunch onboard as your vessel sets a serene course back to Paris. Arriving later this evening, the ship will remain docked in the City of Light for a two-night stay giving you ample time to discover the magic of this extraordinary capital.
